Waiting for Love for flute and string septet

During his college years in 1965, Santiago-Ortiz’s buddies were actively looking for girlfriends.  He actually was not; he was waiting for his true love, the special woman he felt was somewhere in his future to share their lives together.  They found each other about a year later and are still together after sixty years.  Their dreams and plans have resulted in many special memories all these years. This piece has captured some of the jazzy harmonies and rhythms of the bid bands of that mellow era.  The sound should be big but suave, clear but dreamy, and with a sweet sound and pulse that invites slow dancing.
